I don’t know about you guys, but I am a history nerd. While I’m not the most knowledgeable in terms of Egyptian history, I have always been drawn to the idea of it. Pharaohs, cursed tombs, the pyramids, I love them all. When you think of Egypt, a lot of people think of one person: Cleopatra. For me, today’s outfit (which is definitely one of my favorites to ever grace the blog) gives me all the modern Cleopatra vibes. From the skirt’s pattern, to its length, to its shape, to my caged heels, I definitely felt like a modern day Cleopatra in this outfit!
2016 has come to an end, and with it, a new year and (hopefully) new opportunities for Lilacs&Lace. Some things that I know looking back on 2016 are that I have an even bigger vision for the blog this year, and that I have an even bigger appreciation of thrift stores. Why? Because I find dresses like the one featured in this post today! This dress was found in one of my many g0-to thrift stores, which I will be linking in the “Shop My Favorites” page! It is so comfy, with the silk slip below and the long sleeves. It’s nice and flowy too, so it is perfect as a casual dress, or one for an old-fashioned disco (because let’s be honest, that’s exactly what I thought of when seeing it!). Continue reading
In case you haven’t notice, I love anything and everything involving royalty. Ever since I was young, I dreamed I was a princess. Even nowadays, I am obsessed with queens, particularly the history of monarchies. When given the opportunity to learn about them, I get all giddy, and maybe that’s just the history nerd in me, but I love it! With that in consideration, what is a better way to feel like a queen than wearing a beautiful high-collar shirt, with a ballroom-length skirt?!
As summer finally seems to be transitioning to fall (though the weather doesn’t always follow that rule), I try to share the last pops of color as a goodbye to summer. For today’s post, I think this shirt really embodies my goal of that.
What is a better way than to have, well, a kaleidoscope of color in one shirt?!
Hello readers! I’m back for another post! Before you all get into it, I know, radio silence sucks. I want to apologize, as I’ve been busy with work, school, sorority, and many personal issues that have pulled my attention away from the blog. But, not to fear! Mackenzie and I have continued on and have shot even more outfits, which we cannot wait to share with you!
I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but I’m a huge fan of skirts, particularly skater skirts that have a lot of color. I noticed that, while it’s not officially fall yet, our summertime is almost over, which also means that my time to wear my summer wardrobe is also running out. With that in mind, I decided to introduce you all to this lovely skirt that has graced my wardrobe.
Hello, readers! I’m sorry about the radio silence- my stock pile of blog posts have been running low, so I’ve tried to stretch them out and make them last as long as possible! Since I can only see my photographer, Mackenzie, once in a while, we have to carefully plan each blog shoot, and I plan when to post it. With the limited time we always have, and the distance, I have been trying to brainstorm some solutions, and I will let you know if I have one! But, for now, let’s move on to the post.
For today’s post, I am featuring probably my favorite romper in my closet at this moment- my lace romper! For me, summer is all about dresses and rompers, really anything to keep me nice and cool in the sweltering heat! Continue reading
Happy Monday, readers! It’s another start to a beautiful and sunny week here in Winona before we head into the pre-holiday weekend! For me, a staple during these hot summer months are maxi skirts. They are feminine, fun, and perfect to keep you cool while you look absolutely adorable in them.
For today’s post, this pleated maxi skirt definitely had to be featured. Its lightweight, flowing, and soft fabric not only help me remain neutral with temperature, it is perfect for any occasion. When the wind catches it, it billows out and looks so beautiful, making me feel absolutely flawless in it. It’s perfect for twirling! Continue reading
Happy Tuesday, readers! I hope all of your weeks have been good so far. My week has been filled with work, but thankfully I get to end this week (hopefully) going to Steamboat Days, which is this carnival/festival that happens here annually in Winona.
For me, one of the best things about summer (aside from the beach, sun, and break from school) is the beautiful flowers that seem to bloom every year. No matter where I turn, I see color from the most beautiful of flowers. S0, with that in mind, I decided to feature one of my favorite special occasion outfits that features none other than a beautiful floral pattern.
Hello, readers! In the past, my wardrobe has been very cut-and-dry, with no gray areas in terms of what I would or wouldn’t wear. I used to never ever considering wearing things that involved more than one print, or opposite colors; it just never seemed right to me. This year, however, one of the biggest trends has been pattern mixing. So, being the usual follower of trends, I decided to go out on a limb and try this trend, and I’m so glad I did! Whether it’s polka dots, geo prints, animal prints, stripes, or any other patterns you can think of, patter mixing can prove to be a fun and fashionable twist to any wardrobe.
For today’s post, I decided to mix florals with stripes.
