Summer Roses

When I first saw this high-waisted halter swimsuit in floral print on Choie’s, I knew that I had to buy it. Within moments of seeing it, I had it in my cart, ready to check out. Why, you might ask? Three words: high waisted floral. I am a sucker for both of these things. I love the idea of anything really high-waisted because not only is it a sexy vintage trend that is so timeless that it keeps coming back into style, but it is also very flattering for many body types, even the curvier ones. I also love florals (as I’ve already explained in past posts) because they are so bright, girly, and fun. I chose navy just because I love the elegance that navy brings to any outfit. I decided to shoot at Big Falls because, well, it’s just gorgeous there. I think we spent more time gawking at how gorgeous the falls were, than actually doing the fashion shoot itself.

*deep breath* So, as I’ve mentioned before to you all, this is one of the toughest posts I’ve had to do thus far on “Lilacs&Lace”. The reason why it is is because of my body image issues. Continue reading

Wednesday Wants: Featuring Lulu’s

For this week’s “Wednesday Wants”, I chose an online shopping boutique that I have fallen in love with, and have even signed up for a giveaway through them (wish me luck)! Lulu’s is the place you should go if you are looking for pieces that are from new designers, or even cheaper prices on already well-known ones.

Plus, they have amazing sales- they have a sale that’s up to 80% off right now! They feature a wide range of products- from dresses and rompers, to handbags, beauty products, and shoes!

Casual, Clasped Peplum

I’m usually a casual person when it comes to style (trust me, some of the outfits on here would be ones I would only wear if I was trying hard to look good), so I wanted to show more casual outfits, especially ones I wear in the summertime when the weather is hot. Along with shorts, and lace (obviously), I love peplum. To me, peplum adds a cute little dressy, almost vintage flare that both covers up some curves that I might be insecure about, but also makes me feel sexy at the same time by being lace and showing a bit of skin.

Aside from the fact that this shirt was peplum, what also majorly attracted me to it was the fact that it has clasps. The clasps not only allow me the choice of how I’d like to style my shirt, but they also add a unique feel to the outfit. Continue reading

Black and PINK Lace

More lace for you guys! Shocking, right?! I shot this outfit quite a while ago (around the end of May), but due to a busy work schedule and a lot of traveling within the past month, I wasn’t able to organize the post and the works.

This shirt (also featured here) is definitely one of my favorites. I pulled it out of my closet and thought, “why have I not worn this yet?”. It’s perfect for me, because as I’ve probably said a million times before, I love lace.

Blue Lace With PINK

Hello, “Lilacs&Lace” readers/followers! I’m sorry for the hiatus between blog posts! Unfortunately, due to my work schedule, I have been too busy to return home to Eau Claire, which is where my friend (and amateur photographer) Mackenzie is. I take a lot of time planning these posts out, and a lot of effort goes into them. This planning includes: choosing the outfit, accessories, hairstyle, and makeup, as well as picking the days and locations of the shoots. The last part of the planning would be choosing the post’s name and date of when it will be posted. Because of the lack of posts I’ve had lined up, and the fact that I don’t have the time, money, or resources to post everyday, I planned these posts (along with the past posts) accordingly so they weren’t so clustered together, with weeks of very few posts going on.

Okay, now that we have that out of the way, on to the post! As you can tell by my blog’s name, I’m kind of a fan of lace. To me, lace has always been one of my go-to choices in clothing. I always said I should’ve been born earlier, and I think my taste in clothes really supports that theory. Continue reading

Hell on Heels: One Romper, Two Ways

I was online shopping a few months back, and I decided to look for one thing that had been missing from my closet, which was a staple piece for the spring and summer time. That one piece of clothing, you ask? A romper.

I have never really been one for rompers; I guess I thought that I didn’t have the body type for it! Whenever I saw a romper, whether it be online or on a blog post featured on one of the many blogs I follow, they always seemed to be worn by the thin bloggers, girls that really anyone would look at them and be like, “wow, they look great!” It just seemed to me that rompers were for that type of body: thin but curvy, and tall. Something in me, however, decided to give rompers a shot. Continue reading
